What are the 4 Reasons to Use a Mac rather than PC –
Mac vs PC
There has been debate for many years about whether it is better to use a Mac or a PC when working a computer. Although a lot of the decision will come down to budget, or – probably more importantly – the kind of work you need to do (Macs have always been closely associated with design work, whereas PCs are more to do with documents), there are some good reasons why you should at least consider using a Mac. Here are some of them to be thinking about.
Macs Are Reliable
Although Macs will most likely never be the most inexpensive option when it comes to purchasing a new computer, there is something in the old adage that you get what you pay for. Macs are extremely reliable, so once you have spent the money to buy one, you won’t need to buy another for a long time to come.
PCs, however, can often have catastrophic failures which, if you haven’t backed everything up, can lead to complete data loss. Of course, that’s not to say that Macs never go wrong (which is why it is always a good idea to learn how to format external hard drive Mac to give you an added level of security), but the chances are slim compared to a PC.
Preloaded Software
If you went out to purchase a PC today, you might be disappointed to find that there is no software loaded onto it when you start it all up. This – such as the Microsoft Office suite – has to be bought in addition, and can be costly, bumping what you thought was a great price up to something much more expensive.
A Mac would not have this additional cost because all the most useful software is preloaded. That means you can bring your new Mac home, turn it on, and get started right away. A Mac will have the handy iLife suite installed, and that means you can edit photos and videos, and make music. You’ll also get an email client and be able to use any of the iWork online apps.
More Secure
Cybercriminals are much more interested in hacking into PCs than Macs, so even without any security software, your Mac is always going to be a lot safer than a PC would be, even a PC installed with the best antivirus and security firewalls around.
Of course, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t protect your Mac – it’s always a good idea no matter what you are using it for – but it does mean that the chances of you having a security problem is going to be extremely slim when using a Mac over a PC.
It Has Stayed Simple
When you look at the evolution of a PC, you’ll see that in every new incarnation something different has happened. This makes owning a PC a complicated matter because every time you have to get a new one – or even if you need to use someone else’s, or a library PC, or anything else – you’ll need to spend time getting to know the system before you can do anything.
A Mac is not like that. Apart from a few cosmetic adjustments, using a Mac today is the same as using a Mac years ago, and that means that you can effortlessly move from machine to machine and not have to waste time working out how it all works.
